EASTERN AESTHETICS ON PERSPECTIVE OF RAMAYANA PERFORMING ART IN INDONESIA AND THAILAND

SINOPSIS Aesthetics represent one way to understand a potential of a concept (or an idea) that lives inside an art work. Ramayana Story is a literature that has been popular in the early part of century and widely known in various regions of Southeast Asia since 4th century. Two models of transfer are involved in order to bring Ramayana Story from India to Asia. Actually, there are many transfer models but only two are considered as relevant to the context of writing of this book. First model is through sea lane whereas the second is through land lane. Both lanes are actively used for many trade-related purposes but the lanes are also bringing strong implication to politic and economic matters. On the other hand, state (empire) administrators summon Indian spiritual priests to come to the palace to teach Hinduism. Even, several spiritual learners are selected and sent to India to study about Hinduism. Surprisingly, spiritual teachings are also delivered by traders to local inhabitants when these traders pass by certain regions in Southeast Asia.
